SPM recommended this book to me. In fact, she even offered to send me her copy of it to read, as long as I sent it back. I bought my own, though, because when I like a book, I like to reread it.

Thanks, SPM, the book was awesome!

The Time Traveler's Wife is the story of Henry DeTamble, a man who has a rare genetic disorder that causes him to spontaneously travel through time, and Clare Abshire, the woman he loves.

I'm not going to give too much away, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but here are a few tidbits: The book follows a traditional timeline while also jumping around in the past and the future. As an adult, Henry visits Clare as a child many times, so she knows him well and is in love with him before he ever meets her for the first time, when they are both adults.

If this book hadn't come so highly recommended, I never would've read it, because I am hardly ever interested in romance novels. But this is so much more. It's definitely a romance at heart but the obstacles in their relationship are so different from a traditional romance. Henry and Clare are creative, artistic, intellectual, multi-layered characters and the book is written absolutely BEAUTIFULLY. To be honest, while I was reading it, I kept feeling jealous that I can't write like Niffenegger does.

I really hope that the upcoming movie, starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, lives up to this beautiful book.

Something's wrong with the posting of reviews so this is just a regular blog. But I give the book 4 and a half stars.
