Can you tell that all I did this weekend was watch movies?

Hot Fuzz is the story of Nicholas Angel (Pegg), a dedicated London police officer who is so good at being a cop that he makes the other officers on the force look bad. As a result, his chief sends Angel to the tiny, crime-free village of Sandford. In Sandford, Angel is partnered with Danny Butterman (Frost) a cheerful but incompetent officer who wanted to be a cop for two reasons: because his father (Broadbent) is the chief inspector, and because he is obsessed with cheesy Hollywood cop films.

Nothing really happens in Sandford, and Angel is bored and out of sorts. But when residents of Sandford start getting murdered and covered up as grisly accidents, Angel does his best to solve the crimes, while the rest of his fellow policemen think he's on a wild goose chase.

I'd heard that this movie was funny, and I expected a slapstick comedy. But there wasn't much slapstick... instead, there was a lot of violence. Funny violence, but pretty gory nonetheless. But even though it wasn't what I expected, it was still pretty hilarious. I laughed out loud throughout. The movie got more and more ridiculous as it went on and on, and the ending was frankly absurd. But still funny. The actors were hilarious (especially a mustachioed Timothy Dalton as a slimy local businessman) and the soundtrack kicked ass.

If you like British humor and aren't afraid of a little gore, check it out.
