First, the Best
Best All-Around:

Marisa Tomei - This is just fabulous! The dove grey color, the intricate pleats, and the stunning silhouette... I'm gushing.
Runner Up, Best All-Around:

Natalie Portman - I love the soft lilac, the simple draped shape, the simple hair, and the fact that she didn't wear a necklace. Perfection.
Best Newcomer:

Taraji P. Henson looks flawless in her soft ivory dress and fabulous diamond necklace.
Best Jewelry:

What an amazing collar necklace on Amy Adams. It frames her face beautifully.
Consistently Improving Award:

Just a few months ago, Evan Rachel Wood was dressing like her ex Marilyn's ex Dita. But now she's really come into her own. I don't love this look as much as I loved her Golden Globes gown, but she still looks amazing.
Best Shimmer Award:

Anne Hathaway knows that when your gown is shimmery, it's best to keep a simple silhouette. She is absolutely glowing.
Best Black Award:

Diane Lane isn't blowing me away, but she still looks lovely in basic black.
Best Shape Award:

Anyone who is not a 6 foot Glamazon would be overwhelmed by this dress, but Heidi Klum looks amazing in it.
Took me a while, but now I dig it Award:

At first, I wasn't sure about Freida Pinto's dress. I liked the color but wasn't sure about the one sleeve. But it grew on me when I realized that it reminded me of an Indian sari.
Best Texture Award:

If Maria Monounos' gown was pink, I would think it was too frou-frou. But because it was a cool steel grey, I thought it was fabulous!
Best Princess Gown:

Sarah Jessica Parker looks very Carrie Bradshaw.
Best Meryl Award:

Meryl Streep is hit or miss on the red carpet, but she nailed it this time.
Now, the Worst
Worst All-Around:

Beyonce needs to stop letting her mother dress her. This is beyond tacky. My eyes hurt from looking at her. Barf.
Worst Shimmer Award, Runner Up Worst All-Around:

Miley Cyrus looks like a little girl playing dress-up. She should be embarrassed.
Most Disappointing Award:

I want SO badly to like Kate Winslet's look, but I just can't. The tulle/lace/whatever thing ruins the whole dress, and I'm really not a fan of the hair.
Worst Shape Award:

What the crap is hanging off of Jessica Biel's boob? To quote Aud, she looks like she's wearing a towel.
Least Effort Awards:

Bridget Fonda and Phoebe Cates look like they picked this up at Dress Barn about 30 minutes before she showed up.
David's Bridal Reject Award:

First of all, mermaid dresses are flattering on NOBODY, not even Melissa George. Secondly, the stark white of the dress make it look like it was bought from the discount rack of a bridal shop. No good.
Much Too Much Award:

I know she's a screen legend, but Sophia Loren needs to learn that the extreme fashion of her heyday is dated and tacky.
You Are Not A Statuette Award:

Viola Davis' hair and makeup are lovely, but her dress is a little too much like an Oscar Statuette for my liking.
Worst Runway Adaptation Award:

Vanessa Hudgens' dress is just okay, and despite the fact that I loathe mermaid dresses, I normally wouldn't have put her on the worst list. But it is a bastardization of one of my favorite dresses from the Marchesa spring 2009 line.
And the Rest
Lovely from the Neck Up Award:

I love Amanda Seyfried's hair, makeup and necklace, and the color of her dress is lovely, but it's just not flattering.
Lovely from the Neck Down Award:

Lisa Rinna's gown is a beautiful color and very flattering, but her scary lips and stupid hairdo just ruin it.
Black AGAIN? Award:

I would probably die of shock if Angelina Jolie wore something besides black or grey. But the bright green earrings save her from the worst dressed award.
At Least it's not Black Award:

Jennifer Aniston wears black and earth tones almost exclusively. So, at least this isn't black, and at least it's got some bling. Her hair looks nice but it's a bit casual for the Oscars.
Funny Ladies in Gold Award:

Tina Fey and Leslie Mann are right on trend in sleek metallic dresses. It's nice to see beautiful, funny women in the spotlight.
We've Seen It All Before Award:

Penelope Cruz looks nice, but this looks just like the gown she wore to the Oscars two years ago.
Matchy-Matchy Award:

Melissa Leo managed to match her gown with her hair.
Ageless Award:

Okay, her gown is kind of boring, but does Robin Write Penn EVER age?
Erickson Beamon
I thought that Bridget Fonda was Helen Hunt
Beyonce looks like a vase. Vanessa's dress is
just horrible. I like Miley's dress just not on her. Its too much
I didn't like the color of ERW. The dress matched her skin too much. And can she lay off the Aqua Net?!?!?! She looks so much better with softer hair
I would like to add one more award
Only a French Person Could pull this off

1Marion Cotillard. I kind of love her for wearing this
I couldn't decide if I loved or hated Marion's gown, so I left her out.
2Wow.. That is a lot of dress! Whip - I am totally there with you on all of these!! Especially Kate.. I was bummed about her pick.. I'm still trying to warm up to Freidas dress
3I wasn't sure at first either but I love it. The only other person I could see possibly pulling this off is Cate Blancett. I missed her on the red carpet
4Me too!! I love her..
5Lisa Rinna's hair--W.T.F.
6I hate mermaid, too.
Yay for Meryl for making the effort!
I loved Miley's dress
Marion's gown is awesome. Natalie was my favorite by far.
I totally thought that Bridgete Fonda was Helen Hunt too.
7I liked Miley's and Kate Winslet's gowns and Marion's was nice, I prefered it to her fish scales dress
8Sophia Loren can do no wrong in my book, but Beyonce looks like she murdered an innocent Salvation Army couch to get the fabric for that godawful thing.
9Beyonce's dress seriously gives me the dry heaves.
10Freida is my fav of the night. I absolutely love her dress- the color, the metallic threading(?), the single sleeve. I think the way it mirrors a sari is just enough w/out being too much.
11Meryl looked great.
I really like Kate W's dress, but hate her hair.
I wasn't impressed with Anne H.
Kate's hair was HORRIBLE. I didn't realize how band it was until she went up to accept.
12I loved Kate's dress.
13Anne Hathaway looks a thousand feet tall in that dress. Very nice.
14Robin Wright Penn was all leg when she was sitting in the front row. I was like dammmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn girl
15I'm surprised Peen didn't thank her!
16This years Oscars ROCKED!!
I thought Angie looked gorgeous & Beyonce's dress needs to die.
17Marisa and Natalie looked so beautiful! I really like Marion Cotillard's dress.
Beyonce's
dress, not so much.
18I am a fan of Kate's dress. SJP didn't disappoint either. We agree on Beyonce though. Barfity barf barf.
19i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RAGING about Mickey losing i cannot come to terms to even comment about the fashion...sorry whip
20I loathe Sean Penn. If Mickey didn't win than at least Frank Langella should have. Of course I say this not having seen any of these films and being biased on my like and dislike of actors.
21agreed aud.. i wouldnt have mind at all if frank win. but mealy mouthed beady eyed dick nose Penn... vomit puke face ..
22i totally agree. Thanks to MK from dListed he now will forever be called Sean Peen to me.
23Well, I'm not a fan of Sean Penn as a person but he really did an outstanding job with that role.
I wanted Mickey to win but I am totally okay with Sean winning. Plus, I actually really liked his speech, and how he admitted that he knows everyone thinks he's an *sshole sometimes.
24I am so glad you included Jessica Biel, like wtf?! I kept looking at her thinking she looked pregnant.
Miley is a little girl playing dress up!
Helen Hunt looks awful! Good grief. I think Viola Davis would have looked good if it was a different colour.
I liked Tina Fey and Jen Aniston's okay, and also Kate Winslet's minus the hair, as you mentioned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25Timing is Everything
sorry whip.. im taking this personally.. ya know with me and mickey being friends and all
26I haven't seen Milk or the Wrestler, but I do think Penn is an excellent actor. If Mickey plays his cards right, he can start his career anew from this nod.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27Timing is Everything
Beyonce seems to always get it wrong imo.
RW Pen Looked fantastic! Meryl looks great!
It thought that Bridget Fonda was Helen Hunt too!
28haha this was the best fashion recap i read! you know, i liked the dress and color that frieda wore, but something about that sleeve bothered me. kate stayed safe, but i liked it. i loved anne hathawys dress, and marissas! i cant decide between them. and while jessica biels dress was a huge flop, i didnt really like heidi klums either. meryl looked amazing. i woulda wished she won if i didnt feel like kate really deserved it this time.
29I really loved Kate W's dress. I thought the color was different & beautiful. Her hair, awful. She has such gorgeous lips- I wish she would have worn a dramatic lipstick!
Beyonce always looks terrible! What is she thinking! And, Angelina? C'mon...I hate sweetheart necklines. I thought her emeralds were way too bright green.
Frieda's dress was soooo beautiful. The color was PERFECT for her.
30My overall fav for the night was Kate Winslet. I thought her hair, dress, and makeup were fab. I kept trying to figure out how she got her hair to do that.
to me. She looks
so much better with shorter blonde hair IMO.
For just dress alone I loved loved loved Marisa Tomei's dress and Marion Cotillard's dress.
I really thought SJP looked awful, hair color and style and dress were
And I felt bad for Robin Wright Penn. She had to grab Sean's face to make him kiss her when he won and then he didn't thank her.
And I loved the interview with Mickey R on the red carpet. He said he had Loki's tux already made.
I think he said he had it with him. It was really sweet.
31Aww, Loki's little tux.
I missed that interview.
32Natalie Portman really looked beautiful!
33I was hoping you would do this again.
Excellent job!
34I agree Whip, I reeeeally wanted to love Kate's look but I just didn't. The dress was okay but that hair was so not
I love Sean Penn! He's probably my favorite actor so I was pleasantly surprised when he won! And I think he did thank his wife. He said something in the beginning of his speech like "I want to thank my best friend" - I believe he was referring to Robin
My favorites of the night were Penelope Cruz, Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Evan Rachel Wood, Taraji P. Henson, Nathalie Portman and Marion Cotillard, phew!
35ok now that I am somewhat more relaxed.. i would say that alot of these dresses look like 1980s miss america gowns..
36I loved when Tina Fey and Steve Martin were presenting and she just started staring at him and he looked at her and pointed and said "don't you fall in love with me".
37Tina Fey and Steve Martin was my favorite part of the show!
Tina looked AMAZING.
38I loved Viola Davis' dress. Angelina was so blah.
39I'm cracking up at your "award" titles
Beyonce was by far the worst dressed. I didn't like the train on Marisa Tomei's dress. And thought SJP was too booby. Natalie Portman was gorgeous. I loved Maria Monounos' dress. I totally agree that the colour was a great choice.
I must admit that I really like Miley Cyrus' dress. I hadn't seen Tina Fey - she looked great!
I also really loved Alicia Keys' dress (can't find a pic of it at the moment). She often gets it so so wrong but I was pleasantly surprised.
